Virtualität; im Waldviertel gibt’s keine Autobahn
, or Virtuality; there is no Highway in the Woodquarter examines mythmaking as a tool for settling into present-day uncertainties rather than rationalising realities. It presents works that grapple with an autobiographical sense of self, collaging memories and the virtual space of possibilities.

The Woodquarter — where I grew up — is full of old myths and tales, and while there is beauty in the preservation power of seclusion, this part of the countryside that lacks a highway also — to some degree — instigates conservatism.

My home is a recurring theme in most of my work, a place that has impacted me in every way, for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Another duality that maybe I can have an easier time wrestling with when giving into the mythical option of multiple realities.

All criticality aside, I had the best time opening the exhibition and am so grateful for everyone who showed up and connected with the works.

It’s open until the end of August; every Sunday 1-5pm at the Carl Hermann-Haus in Gmünd, Lower Austria
